Health Disclaimer — Asidu
Asidu is not a medical device and does not provide medical, dietetic or individual nutritional advice.
Asidu provides general information and estimates about nutrition and training for healthy adults. Energy expenditure, targets, carryover, weight trend, outlooks, recovery signals and fueling suggestions are estimates from general formulas, sports-nutrition guidelines, food databases, your devices and AI. They can be wrong for you.
Asidu is not designed for you if you have or have had an eating disorder, are pregnant or breastfeeding, or your nutrition is affected by a medical condition. If this applies to you, please only use Asidu after talking to a qualified professional.
- Talk to a doctor or a registered dietitian before larger changes to your diet or training.
- Recovery signals describe your recorded data. They don't tell you whether you are recovered or should train. Stop and seek medical help if you have chest pain, dizziness, fainting, shortness of breath or other unusual symptoms.
- If your target is below common sports-nutrition recommendations, Asidu shows: "Your target is below common sports-nutrition recommendations. Please talk to a sports dietitian or doctor." No such note does not mean a target is right for you.
- Fueling, carbohydrate-loading and race-preparation suggestions are general guidance from published sports-nutrition guidelines, not an individual plan. Try changes in training, not on race day.
- Caffeine: Asidu shows amounts and timing based on studies with healthy adults. The European Food Safety Authority (EFSA) considers single doses of up to 200 mg and up to 400 mg a day safe for healthy adults, and up to 200 mg a day during pregnancy. Before training, Asidu suggests at most 200 mg; the 3–6 mg per kg used in studies is shown as study information only. If you are pregnant or breastfeeding, you can hide the suggestion (Profile → Logging → Caffeine); Asidu does not give caffeine advice for pregnancy.
- Cycle correction looks back at your past cycles to reduce the effect of water retention on your weight trend. It does not predict your cycle, ovulation or fertility and must not be used for contraception or any medical purpose.
- The weekly outlook is a statistical projection of your recent trend, not a prediction.
- AI suggestions and cooking steps can be wrong. Check ingredients for allergies and intolerances, and follow usual food-safety practice (e.g. cook meat and eggs thoroughly).
- Don't use Asidu if tracking calories or weight has been discouraged by a professional or causes you distress.
Sources of uncertainty
- Food label values may legally deviate by up to ±20 %. Database entries may be incomplete or wrong.
- AI recognition of meals from text or photos typically deviates by ±20–40 %.
- Wearable estimates of energy expenditure commonly deviate by 20 % or more.
- Formulas for resting metabolic rate have individual errors of ±10–20 %.
- Heart-rate variability and sleep data vary day to day for many reasons unrelated to recovery.
Asidu tries to reduce these errors over time by calibrating against your weight trend, but it cannot eliminate them.
If you are struggling
If food, weight or body image take up a lot of space, or tracking affects how you feel, please stop using Asidu and talk to someone. In Switzerland:
